You know, your teachers always talk about the concept of failure and “happy accidents”… and your bosses really couldn’t care about them. This article is chock full of sage advice packaged in a way that just may apply to those of us trying to balance creativity with keeping a steady paycheck:

Look at this thing. I mean really. Look. That whole slipping on the ice thing and regaining its own balance is just a little too unnerving for my tastes. But you cannot deny the intense &*%$# coolness of this. I think I want to have a whole army of them (squirrel sized of course) to simply follow me around wherever I go.

To start my blog off on a high note, I bring you the first in my ongoing series “Artists Who Make Me Consider A Business Degree”

I plan to bring these to you from time to time as I find them. Starting off our series is Audrey Kawasaki, as described on her site:

The themes in Audrey Kawasaki’s work are contradictions within themselves. Her work is both innocent and erotic. Each subject is attractive yet disturbing. Audrey’s precise technical style is at once influenced by both manga comics and Art Nouveau. Her sharp graphic imagery is combined with the natural grain of the wood panels she paints on, bringing an unexpected warmth to enigmatic subject matter.

The figures she paints are seductive and contain an air of melancholy. They exist in their own sensually esoteric realm, yet at the same time present a sense of accessibility that draws the observer to them. These mysterious young women captivate with the direct stare of their bedroom eyes.

My take on it is that this stuff is just simply mind-blowing… and it makes me wonder if I should just quit now.

All right.  It’s done.

I’m here in cyber-whateverness putting my stuff out there for all to see.  This will be a couple of things: One.  A vehicle for my work to be shown.  Two. A collection of my thoughts poured out onto this hyper-nothingness.  Three.  Hopefully a vehicle for like-minded folks to discuss the world of creativity and design, and maybe build some collaborations. or something.

Please be patient with my mess as I figure out this wordpress thing and flex my mind a bit to create the page that I ultimately want.
